Laiser Youth Soccer Academy (LYSA) based at Laiser Hill Academy, Ongata Rongai, were lucky to escape with a draw on Saturday, 22/07/17 as they hosted a friendly match against Polygon Soccer. LYSA started strongly and looked the better side for most of the first half as they controlled possession and had flashes of brilliance in front of goal as Polygon struggled to settle down for most of the half.
Polygon Soccer, being constant victims of stage fright, were a dull lot and picked up too slowly. It was no surprise that after the first half, LYSA were 2-0 up courtesy of enterprising play from their forwards. Polygon Soccer, having made some considerable changes in our squad, managed to settle well into the second half and immediately replied through goals from the enterprising Hillary and Wario, from a dead ball situation.
Polygon took control of the proceedings and were awarded late in the second half to go 3-2 up. LYSA immediately responded and as the game looked to end deadlocked on a 3-3 draw, Jeremy hit a fourth goal via a header at the near post to send Polygon 4-3 up. Luck was on LYSA’s side as a mistake from Spencer, The Polygon keeper, handed LYSA an easy goal the ensures matters ended on a 4-4 draw.
The teams are set for a return match as soon as possible to settle the scores once and for all.
Training resumes next week.
