Polygon Soccer received a major thrashing on their home turf after falling 8-3 to a more experienced side, Gataka Homeboyz.
Homeboys, on their first visit to the Polygon den, ensured that they bagged the victory after a tactically organized display in front of the away fans. There were major concerns though, from a large part of the fans feeling that Homeboyz had fielded overage players as a big part of them were visibly much older and not really “under 13” as was agreed before the match; A major problem in Kenyan football (Age cheating)
With this in mind, they comfortably dominated the midfield as their advantage in terms of “Physique” played a big role in their dominance. This became manifested in as early as the first ten minutes as a series of piled pressure led to the first goal by Homeboyz. From then on, it didn’t take long before they scored the second. Polygon Soccer piled some pressure and were able to and were rewarded soon after. At some point in the match, it was 2-2. And just as Polygon were looking to match their opponents, a lapse in concentration and positioning by most players led to a goal from Gataka.
From then on, the goals started streaming in and as the team went into the break, Gataka were leading 4-2. The second half led to a total collapse of Polygon Soccer; thereby letting in 4 more goals to end the match 8-3.
Polygon Soccer live to fight another day as they await the return friendly against LYSA Academy on 19/08/17.
